Volume 2 Issue 12
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me;
let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God our creator, children all are we.
Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:
to take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

I managed to shame myself this past week. Our air-conditioning went out the Friday before last, and wasn’t restored until this past Tuesday. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself since the average high outside those days was 105, and inside the house it was getting up to 98. I was pretty insistent with the service contract provider and the heating and cooling company that this constituted an emergency which needed immediate rectification. And then on the evening news tonight I watched the report of Iraqis who are enduring 115 degree heat without much hope that their electrical power and running water will be restored any time soon. Wasn’t there a book entitled “The Ugly American”?

If you haven’t already, I invite you to spend a little time with the Bulletin Board (after you’ve read my sermon, of course). There’s some good stuff there, and you are always welcome to respond to what’s already posted or to add something of your own. This is an excellent opportunity for the depth and intelligence of our virtual congregation to be shared, and I once again offer you gentle encouragement to take advantage of it.
