…it will be a great day when our schools get all the money they need and the air force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber… --Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom

Summer greetings from Las Vegas! We’ve been through the hottest days of the season (hopefully) and the monsoons are bringing with them cooler temperatures and much needed moisture. Thoughts in our home are turning to the start of school, as they are across the country, and the need to urge everyone to vote in November’s critical presidential election becomes more pressing on a daily basis. My prayer is that you, dear reader, will not “sit this one out.”

There’s a new message on the Sermons page that you are invited to read, meditate upon, and, if so moved, to comment on. The Bulletin Board postings are dwindling, but some kind soul anonymously submitted a reply (you won’t have any trouble finding it as it’s the only one there). I continue to ponder effective ways to fulfill the mission of this site because of my belief in the critical importance of theology to our well-being as human beings.

I invite you to share in the wisdom and inspiration available at these sites:
The Sojourners Community evolved into Sojourners ministries in the early 1970s. Jim Wallis, editor-in-chief of “Sojourners” magazine, is renowned for his ability to profoundly articulate the relationship between scripture and social justice. The internet version of his publication, “Sojourners”, may be viewed at: http://www.sojo.net/
Since 1917 “The Witness” has been a voice of gospel justice, based in the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion. As an independent publishing organization, unaffiliated with the institutional church, “The Witness” proudly serves as a communications and organizing vehicle for the progressive movement within the church: http://www.thewitness.org/
Religion & Ethics Newsweekly, hosted by veteran journalist Bob Abernethy, is the only national TV newsmagazine program devoted entirely to the news of religion and spirituality, and major ethical issues. Learn more about the top moral questions facing the country and profiles the most interesting people and groups in the world of religion and ethics by going to: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/
