Volume 4 Issue 6
• “We are talking about God; so why are you surprised if you cannot grasp it: I mean, if you can grasp it, it isn’t God. Let us rather make a devout confession of ignorance, instead of a brash profession of knowledge.” --Augustine
• After the Dalai Lama delivered a lecture, a member of the audience asked him what the answer to world hunger is. He responded, “Sharing” (quoted in Red Eye).
• FIVE INFLUENTIAL JEWISH MEN: Moses said the law is everything. Jesus said love is everything. Marx said capital is everything. Freud said sex is everything. Einstein said everything is relative (beliefnet.com).
• Mary and I have returned from our immersion into American history with a renewed understanding of what patriotism really means, as well as a renewed commitment to exposing the corrupt definition being purveyed by today’s “leaders” for the propaganda it truly is. A palpable climate of fear is being expertly engendered by the Bush White House, especially in Washington, D.C., that is profoundly incongruous with the mindset of the founders of this great nation. I daresay that if they found themselves in today’s political climate the Revolutionaries whom this country reveres would once again find themselves pitted against the new King George.
• “Based on the nation’s experience with this President’s circuit court nominees, the powerful temptation to use the politics of religion appears to be stronger than ever. That temptation must be resisted.” --Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, President of The Interfaith Alliance (For further information on the activity of TIA “to prevent the Supreme Court from becoming a rubber-stamp to the Religious Right’s agenda” GiC readers are strongly encouraged to go to: http://www.interfaithalliance.org/site/pp.asp?c=8dJIIWMCE&b=447561
